The coronavirus has been at the forefront of everyone’s minds in recent days and weeks. With social distancing and new restrictions getting passed everyday, it’s time to talk about the potential situation of postponing your wedding.
The good news? This doesn’t mean you won’t get married to the love of your life and be able to celebrate with others! Let’s look at some options to make this transition a little easier.
- Thursday Wedding: An option that has become increasingly popular over the last few years is holding your wedding on a Thursday. It’s close enough to the weekend to still party it up and encourage guests to treat themselves to a three day weekend. This is a great alternative if you need to find a date all of your current vendors will likely be available.
- November or December Wedding: I may be a little bias because my wedding was in December, but I say that to let you know that it was absolutely wonderful and beautiful despite being during the colder months. November and December generally start the slower season for weddings, which means you’ll have more options to choose from!
- 2021 Wedding: If it comes to it, you definitely have the option to look into next year. This might give you more options when it comes to making sure every vendor can accommodate the postponement. Personally, I got married on our existing anniversary because I wanted to keep it the same date. If you’re doing something similar, consider postponing to next year’s anniversary, so you can keep the special date.
- Later Reception: If you prefer, consider getting married at city hall or just with your justice of the peace/officiant. This means you don’t have to wait to get it signed, sealed, delivered, and you can still opt to have an amazing reception with all your loved ones down the road.
