We specialize in the naturally enhanced, fresh faced type of look for our beautiful wedding clients. With the rise of social media, endless filters, and AI, it’s no surprise that people often show us a picture of a neutral makeup look and say they want something “natural”, when really they mean they like the colors of the look since the look itself is considered more soft glam. Let’s talk about the differences so you feel better prepared working with your makeup artist!

What you see above is are good examples of natural makeup. There isn’t too much happening on the eyes, the skin is fresh without being too covered, and the colors compliment the person’s complexion and eye color. The first picture is about as natural as it can get – using only concealer and no foundation, no color to fill the brows, and a super light lip color. The second picture shows how we can incorporate these things while still keeping the overall look very natural looking.

What you see above now is considered neutral makeup. There are beautiful neutral, “everyday”, brown type shades on the eyes, the skin is flawless, and the overall look compliments the person’s complexion and eye color well. The key difference here is there is physically more amount of makeup applied and the shades and coverage are more intense than the natural makeup example.

Now which type of look do you prefer – natural or neutral?
