Prepping your skin ahead of your wedding day is key to ensure your makeup looks and feels fresh on your wedding day. Good prep is where you really avoid that “cakey” look and create the base for long lasting makeup.

Start with a makeup trial: This is where you’ll meet your makeup artist for the first time and get to try out the look you’ve been dreaming of or curious about. Make sure to come in with an open mind and ready to make changes if necessary. This is also the perfect time to talk with your makeup artist about what type of skincare you currently do and what you should be doing leading up to your wedding day to ensure you have a smooth, hydrated canvas.
Create a solid skincare routine ahead of time: Ideally, you should start your new personalized-for-you skincare routine about 6 months ahead of time. This gives your face a chance to purge if it must, adjust to the new products, and come out glowing. Remember, skincare is cumulative – meaning, you won’t see magical results with just two uses. You need to consistently use your full routine for best results. Overall, my favorite line to recommend is the Sonia Roselli Beauty line.
Schedule at least two facials: The first one should act as a trial, similar to your makeup trial. This is where you see how your face reacts to a professional facial and how long you breakout afterwards (if you do), so you can schedule accordingly before your wedding. After that, ideally, you get your pre-wedding facial done 1-2 weeks ahead of time.
Don’t be afraid of oil: Most people actually have drier skin than they think, even the people who claim to have oily skin. Fun fact – if your skin is oily, it can be because you’re over-producing oil due to not having enough of it. My rule of thumb is to incorporate oil into your skincare routine at night – that way it won’t mess with the longevity of your makeup or make you look shiny during the day and you get that good hydration overnight as you sleep. My favorite is the Sonia Roselli Water Oil.
