Prepping for your hair ahead of your wedding day is critical in making sure your hairstyle looks beautiful and lasts well.

Start with a hair trial: When you have a bridal hair trial, not only are you able to work through your desired look to ensure it works best for you, your hair, and your day, you also get to work with the stylist you’ll be working with on your wedding day. This is the time to ask them questions, try something you would otherwise regret not trying, and start the process nailing your look pre-wedding. Don’t forget to bring your hair pieces and/or veil if you’re planning on using them! This is also a good time to set up a solid haircare routine if you haven’t already.

Develop a solid haircare routine ahead of time: As noted above, your trial is the perfect time to discuss any products you should or shouldn’t be using with your hair stylist. If you have dry hair, it could help to include a moisturizing leave-in conditioner. If you have split ends, you should plan for a haircut pre-wedding. Don’t forget a rich conditioner when it’s wash day! Your haircare routine is personal to you, so it’s important to discuss it at your own appointment.

Use less heat leading up to your wedding: It’s no secret that blow drying your hair and using hot tools on a regular basis damages hair. For this reason, it’s a good idea to give your hair a break and only use heat when absolutely necessary to ensure your hair is as healthy as it can be on your wedding day. And don’t forget to use a heat protectant everytime!

Show up with clean, dry, blow-dried hair: It is key you show up to your wedding day with hair that is ready to be styled to avoid throwing off the timeline. Make sure your hair is blow dried smooth instead of air dried to ensure the best experience and long-lasting hair. If you want to use your natural curls in your style, prep them as you usually do.
